The Value Chain: Reasoning by Category
A live event is assembled from many specialist businesses, and the first discipline is placing any vendor into its category, because the category is how you reason about a bid, a sourcing decision, or a relationship. The buyer-side roles are producers/production companies (who assemble and run the show) and promoters (who present tours and buy both the talent and the building); the supply side runs from talent agencies and management through AV/production rental houses (audio, lighting, video/LED), scenic shops and fabricators, staging companies, lift and equipment rental, rigging and labor, trucking and logistics, and specialty vendors like pyro, lasers, captioning, medical, and catering. Note the deliberate overlaps: lighting houses and AV houses can be the same shop, and a single rental house may crew several disciplines. Know the category first; the specific company names and current market shares are perishable data the platform accrues, not facts to memorize.
The exam is drawn from this material, and you need a perfect score to earn the credential. You can retake it as many times as you need.
