Sizing power: real current, not nameplate
Electrical Power Required (EPR) is computed by summing the actual operating current of every device, never the worst-case nameplate sticker. Then correct for power factor: switch-mode supplies (LED walls, modern dimmers, computer PSUs) draw more current than watts divided by volts implies, so real amps can run roughly 10% higher than the naive calculation. A TD does not design the distro, but must be able to sanity-check whether a venue's service actually covers the rig using basic circuit sense (V = I x R, P = V x I) and a load sheet. Undersizing to nameplate or ignoring power factor is how you trip the service on show day.
The exam is drawn from this material, and you need a perfect score to earn the credential. You can retake it as many times as you need.
